I don't think I'd let this stop me from getting one. Didn't Porsche have a problem (not really a problem, but complaints about) with the brakes on their 911 Turbos a few years ago?

I think that was with the composite/carbon brake upgrade. Basicly they were really expensive and didn't last that long.

I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me over at the Corvette forum. Braking performance is not affected, at least not that I've noticed. I've been to 1 roadracing event since getting the car last October, and have done several aggressive canyon runs. The holes are just cosmetic anyways, drilled holes are never good for performance, slots are the way to go. Cast holes are OK though. IMO the real reasons the Z06 brakes stop so well are: large rotors, large calipers, multiple padlets. Those holes don't do much really. I'm hoping that the aftermarket will come through with their padlets soon, because as of this time, only GM has those padlet replacements and they're expensive and not widely available. More choices of pads would be appreciated as well.

The holes have nothing to do with it. It's the vanes that are facing the wrong directioni on the right rotor.

I'm still not seeing this as more than a theoretical problem. Or something for people to complain about. Tho I do think GM should be smart enough to figure out that directional things have to be changed for R or L fitment. (hence the far side cartoon)

However the Z06 has put up very good Ring times, better than any car that's made in such numbers. And I read GM claims it's been tested to run in a 24 hr race with no modification needed. (well I guess except roll cage).

It's no fun to crucify Honda for every mistake they make, though. Let's just blindly hate on American manufacturers.

I don't think I am blindly hating on American manufacturers. I just think it was a silly goof up. Something I was hoping would be corrected ASAP. As of now, there are no plans for the correction. These are minor issues but still a bit concerning.

btw, just to clarify. I am still debating ordering a Z06. Just haven't decided to add the Z06 or trade in the NSX or just get a track car.

Not sure why a small issue with the braking system of a 1st year car is a proof of the demise of a company.....???

No.

Mentioned above their early batch PCCB's were giving up the ghost quicker than they should have.

This was not an "oversight" by GM. Clearly they felt the difference was not worth the cost of creating a new mold as this "feature" is present on EVERY SINGLE C6 IN PRODUCTION. It is NOT limited to the Z06.

So does TSB54 (for 3 years in a row without a fix) mean that S2000's are not immune to "honda quality" after all?
not quite as concerning as a deficient rotor....

Service Bulletin 200100-054

BACKGROUND

Clearance between transmission gears (backlash) is normal and sometimes audible. In an S2000, this noise is more noticeable since the transmission is between the seats instead of up front in the engine compartment. When the vehicle decelerates, its weight, together with the pulses from the engine, excites the transmission gears, causing them to buzz or rattle.

what's the description of the issue on the recall notice associated with the C6 rotors?
