I don't get the whole Intergra thing. Stick with an S.
Have you driven an ITR?
No but I've driven other wrong wheel drive cars with less than 200hp, none of which thrilled me. Is shaving 33 lbs, some spot welds, and a different steering rack supposed to excite me that much?

I too, still don't get the ITR thing.

No, I drove a regular one and it felt like a typical jap shitbox, capable but ugly and toy-like. Maybe a few type R components make it feel less like a tin can but I just remember thinking that in no way shape or form would I want to own this car. I didn't test drive another japanese car until the 2005 S2000 which I really loved.

I passed on a brand new 1998 ITR that was MSRP +5K= $28k on the dealer floor back in '98. They would not take a penny less. So I bought a 1998 GSR for $19.8k swapped a ITR suspension and compteched it with intake, exhaust, strut braces, etc... not a ITR, but it didn't cost me $8k more to come close. I also passed on a 2001 FBP ITR again because even at MSRP it wasn't worth my GSR plus ~$8k on top.

It was great, but when I moved on to my 2003 S2k, the S was lights out better in every respect, no questions asked. Plus my insurance was only ~$40 more every 6 months for a car that was worth well more than double was faster, handled better, looked better, built better, newer, RWD, convertible, etc...

I admit I still look for that unmolested CW '98, but the prices when you can find one are more than a comparable AP1.

Simply not worth it IMO, but I'm sure when that cherry zero mile CW ITR comes out of storage somewhere goes to auction the price realized will be silly.

I am the original and only owner of a 1995 GS-R with light mods (Comptech header, CAI, Eibach springs, etc.) The car has 241 K on the odo and is still going strong. It is my DD. I also have a 2006 S2000. Each car has its merits and I like them equally, but for different reasons. I still get a smile when the B18C abruptly barks when it revs past 5k. This same car has hauled bags of concrete, landscape posts, roof shingles and grand kids. This would be tough to do in an S. I tried to get a Type R back in 98, but like an earlier post stated, the dealer was being a jerk with a 5,000 dollar mark up. Having said this, I still love my S for what it does best. I would not trade either car.

Same argument as always: best fwd 200hp car. Yay. And. Think the mini cooper has somethong to say about that. To me its kinda like aircooled vws, you either love them for what they or understand why you shouldnt.

I'm definitely on the side of "why does the Type R get so much love" and granted I haven't driven one, but it's still a low-power FWD car. I can appreciate good handling and driving experience just as much as the next guy--after all, it's why I have an S2000 right now--but my S2000 is already on the border of what I would consider too slow in a straight line. Going down a few more notches from that to what a Type R offers would not yield me a worthwhile experience. Add to that the lack of RWD/AWD and I'm not sold at all.

If you could get an ITR for the price it should be worth, and if you didn't have to worry about theft constantly, it would be a compelling argument. I just can't see buying one of those over an 06+ Civic Si coupe with the superior K20 powerplant for the same money. Or better yet, an older AP1...again for the same money.

I loved my ITR when I had it about 10 years ago.

Tuning scene has died down considerably and I am not sure if ITR will be a hot cake for theft like it was before...

If I was able to find a clean, well maintained ITR, I would get it.
