Like my '88 Mercedes 560SEL, it's not the purchase price that kills you...it's the maintenance costs...

Depreciation is my friend, I will need a more practical car soon. I have been looking at an 06 Pontiac GTO and the CTS-V of the same year. It isn't really depreciation until the car loses a third of its value the second it leaves the lot. You can get an MSRP $32000 GTO for a touch more than $20000 with a better than factory warranty. The CTS-V is even worse, for a base MSRP of $51000, they can be had for around $30000, 40% loss. In one year of depreciation on the Cadillac you could have bought a Fit and a half. I love "American" cars...

Porsches were renowned for the versatility and reliability of their air-cooled engines. Moving to water-cooled with the 996 raised many an eyebrow among the Porsche faithful.

Personally, I couldn't care except to say that I always thought the 996 to be fugly compared to the 993.. or now, the 997. The headlight arrangement was foul. And soon they will hopefully rid the Boxster of the same eyesores.

The boxter has had cooler new headlights for a couple of years now.
