Sharkwerks can regear the 981 for $5400 in parts and $3500 to rebuild the transmission. Even then, they can’t do anything about 1st and 2nd. They only shorten 3rd, 4th and 5th, while retaining 6th as the cruising gear.

Seems odd as 1st and 2nd gears are really the only tall gears. And 6th is hardly an ideal cruising gear. 80 mph in my car is 3400 rpm engine speed, bleh.

I don't know if it is true but had a guy approach me in a parking lot to talk about the car and I complained about the tall gearing. He said he read that it was done on purpose because the original setup they had when testing the car was beating the base Carrera to 60 so they had to slow it up a bit. Sounds plausible.

Throw some smaller overall diameter tires on the stock wheels to drop the gearing, or new wheels/tires possibly? Not sure what sizes are available for the wheels on this car.

Entirely possible. The gearing, across the board, is taller than the 911.
