Lexus GS-F said to be Still Under Development, Could get LFA's V10 Engine
http://www.torquemagazine.co.za/lexus-gs-f...fas-v10-engine/
Given that the latest Lexus GS has been in the market for a while, most of us have abandoned the idea of an F-badged variant of the current model that would compete head on with the Audi RS6, BMW M5, Cadillac CTS-V and Merc's E63 AMG. But even though common sense says that, if Lexus wants to go ahead with the GS-F, chances are the automaker will wait for the next generation GS, Japan's Best Car magazine claims it knows otherwise.

While I have always thought the GS was an excellent platform to take on the large German uber sedans, I wonder if this engine is the right way to go. It is very similar to the current M5s engine in that it is a naturally aspirated, V-10 with a high redline, high horsepower but relatively low amounts of torque.
With the trend among german super sedans leaning towards going the forced induction route, that means that the next M5, E AMG, etc. will have bucco torque to back up its horsepower and may leave this GS-F in the lurch.

When I thought the IS-F was a one-off, I was skeptical, but now that I see Toyota seems to be persistent about making sporty and sports cars again, I'm glad to see stuff like this. Maybe we'll see a real SC again someday.

Traveldude, I would agree that an FI V8 or the like may be the better overall motor, but I definitely wouldn't mind having a 500hp Lexus GS V10 that revs to 8,000rpm to keep my commute interesting. We can basically count on the motor being good to 200k and the rest of the car should be reliable, so I'd certainly consider one over a new M5/E63.

Per Motor Trend - http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_ne...s_gs/index.html - the GS will get a 2.5L V6 for the base model and 3.5L V6 for the top model. Given that downsize in motor options, I think the IS-F V8 is far more likely for the GS-F than the bespoke V10 from the LF-A, which is what Motor Trend also says in that link.

It would be wild if they dropped the LF-A engine in there and didn't touch the rev limiter. A car like that would see a lot more driving than an LF-A, so I wouldn't be surprised if they clipped its wings by 1000rpm or so. Still insane.
