The Evora 400 is not going after the Cayman GT4 in particular. Certainly some buyers will cross shop the two, but Evora appeals to different senses than the Cayman, IMO. Evora is more visceral an experience in sound, steering, sitting position, and braking than the Cayman. Not everyone is looking for that in a sports car, but if they are the Evora hits the mark better than Cayman.

Lotus can never compete with Porsche when it comes to attractive financing and the Lotus dealers will never get 25% the foot traffic of a Porsche dealership. Porsche outsells Lotus almost 50 to 1.

I can't wait to read the reviews as Lotus says it's fastest production car they've made. That says a lot. The new interior should appeal to a broader audience. Looks a little too "Ferrari" inside, but when is that a bad thing?

This thing looks awesome! I love it - improved interior, great power, good looks and definitely going to be rare along with what should be the usual great Lotus driving experience.

love it. but i'd be worried about the quality control. With rumors of the pricing increasing, I can't see it as a logical new car purchase. Used maybe. But for $110k, I'd rather have something else. Used at $60k thats a different story.

Let's say this car new is 85K, would that change your opinion? The quality control looks to be improved from earlier years. Lotus spent too much money on their dealers fixing everything early on.

Yes it would. But not just to me but to the market. Most people aren't going to pay more than a porsche for a lotus that has an unproven dealer network & quality control w/ a toyota engine. I love Lotus. But they already have me as a customer. To convince other buyers, especially the porsche buyers, they need to compete on everything. Including price. You could get a GT4 for the same price (or cheaper) as an Evora 400. And the rumors I've heard is that it'll be more expensive. So around $100k-$110k.

Agreed. They have me as a customer too. Problem is most Porsche buyers never test drive an Evora. For me, the Toyota engine was a big plus, not looking for my car to be in shop or be stranded. I haven't read of any Evora engines needing a rebuild, rear main seal, half shafts, etc... Many Corvette owners just want a Vette, and that's fine. If Lotus could take 5% of Porsche's coupe business it would be banner year in Hethel.
