I must also say to go with the STi if you're gonna go the Subaru route. I've driven the non-STi WRX and it's alright. I dunno about you but it felt quite a bit slower than the S2k. I couldn't even really feel the boost! I had to look at the boost gauge to see when it was actually boosting. The s2k felt quicker by far.
The STi on the other hand, now that was a beast, just shoved me to the back of the seat. Had a bit of bodyroll, but the straightline performance was wonderful.

I've actually gone from an '03 wrx stage2 cobb accessport, tbe, uppipe, etc. to an '06 s2k just last month.
My choice hands down is the s2k.
Main reasons:
Handling... the wrx will NEVER compare to the s2k's handling.
Quality of interior/materials.
Looks
Convertible
If however you do decide to switch, go for the STi, getting a wrx and dropping those mods you have listed is pointless, you'll be about on par with an STi if lucky.

Oh good god! How can you stand that new alpha romero wannabe look? Everytime I see one I feel like barfing. I would either go for the legacy or an evo RS.
I totally forgot about the Legacy, I'd definitely recommend that as well, just a detuned STi in a more mature bodystyle, albeit more bland. The Legacy 2.5 GT Limited also has a lower starting price in comparison to the WRX STi as well.

Haha, I thought the opposite. It didn't bug me too much in the photos, but in person, I did not like it at all. It throws the car out of proportion, front is so long and the rear of the car seems to be so short in comparison. Makes it look front heavy imo. I'd be afraid to go up any steep driveways or go over any major dips without slowing down to 2 mph..

the answer is simple...only get the subaru if you need the added space..if you don't, then get the S...the S is a more pure sport machine...how do i know? I owned the S for three years then sold and got an '06 STI due to wife and baby...the S is more raw and pure
