I have a Mercedes GL350 (actually my wife does) and we get about 27 to 28 on the hwy and about 19 or 20 around town. Over all we are averaging 21.6 over the course of 3,000 miles since we bought it. Diesel in Dallas costs the same as premium too. Overall I am very happy with the mileage it gets (I can go over 600 highway miles on one tank). I did the math compared to the escalade we traded in:
Escalade cost about .28 per mile in fuel (at 3.65 per gallon for regular)
MB Cost about .18 per mile in fuel (at 3.95 for premium)
We are saving .10 per mile with current gas prices. Driven about 3000 miles so saved around $300 in fuel so far. If the fuel numbers were to remain the same for 50,000 miles we are looking at a 5,000 saving in fuel cost. Not too shabby!
Oh, and my insurance on the Merc is less (marginally) than the Caddy.
The GL350 drives wonderfully, is way more refined than the Caddy, just a bit smaller.
