Default 0-60

When will this menaingless statistic go away.

I'd sooner see it deleted in favour of 0-100 mph, or something maybe even more meaningful. What about a rolling in gear number?

As a car obsessive, i'm tired of people asking "what's the 0-60" and looking upset when I say, don't know, don't really care.

It's normally asked by people who don't know much about cars. I've actually heard people dismiss driving Nirvana cars like the Evora based on an apprantly poor 0-60. Hello????

It's not relevant for a couple of reasons... I am not sad enough anymore to do a 0-60 sprint, as doing it for any reason normally involves some sort of traffic light GP.

Second, the figures are largely unacheivable in the real world, especially on a manual.

Maybe the amount of DCT / lanunch control will make it more relevant again, but then it's still not an indicator of anything relevant is it???

The only time it is an impressive figure to me, is from a hypercar or when it's sub 4 seconds like a GTR

But i'd still rather see it ditched in favour of at least 0-100 as an industry quoted figure.

I totally agree, these figures make much better reading!

0-300kmh: 14.53 seconds
0-200mph: 17.68 seconds
300-0kmh: 6.66 seconds
200-0mph: 7.28 seconds
0-300-0kmh: 21.19 seconds
0-200-0mph: 24.96 seconds

You answered your own question I think Mark

Possibly in your 'impressive' zone?

Nice colour scheme too

30-70 is probably the most representative of the the commonly used stats. Well, it used to be commonly put in mags, not so much anymore.

I feel the same about people playing "top speed top trumps". So what if your M3 can do 155mph and my S can "only" do 150. Neither car would ever hit those speeds in the real World, and I would never want to try tbh.

I suspect people use it to validate or justify their car purchase more than anything else.

The dash on the Westfield automatically reports your time from 0-60 every time it starts from 0!

I'm sure you can turn it off, but the thing is that you don't have time to look at it if you are going fast anyway!

Best statistic for me would be 30-100mph. This represents a good range of useable performance, especially in corner exits/overtaking situations.

Lap times for road cars is the one that gets me.

Unless you're comparing two cars, know the track extremely well, same driver, same conditions etc., and the difference is massive . Other wise, pointless.

The other one is upon finding out that I race, asking about top speeds. 110-120mph doesn't impress apparently

Indeed. On a motorway...yawn. However, flat out at 120mph through school corner at Anglesey is simply an adrenaline pump
