It was a big powerful V8, supercharged, so certainly on MB's 'impressive' radar probably up with a GTR.
But then after all the foreplay and faffing about in the car park
he just trickled tamely up the road

Irony
I remember when I got my S in 2004, some pillock not long after, in a silver E46 M3 Convertible wanted to play (in a 30 zone as well, what a numpty). Kept revving and was purposely driving very close.
So when the speed limits changed, I had to find out what this fast German wobbly cabrio had in it (sorry, the horns came out and I was younger then!) Not much in it, and easily out-braked to the next roundabout. I was very dissapointed in the M3 from that moment onwards, but appreciate they are a different car. But the grin on my face, and a £45,000 new cabrio had been shown the door by a little japanese roadster.

Been trying to educate this lot for years.
Usually met with the response of (Diseasal driver):
'Ahh yes, but lets have a race from 1500rpm in top 5th gear on a drizzly day during lent in a leap year - then my low down torque (because torque only exists low down you see) will have your power'
They never seem to get it when I suggest that we start at 7000rpm instead
I blame Top Gear for a lot of it.

But they're built to do different things anyway.
In many cars, 155 is pretty boring.
