My take on this.

The Scoob is a bargain, simple as that. I imported a WRX from Europe last year and it cost me

Excellent summation, Juan!

There's the outstanding wet road ability, which cannot be ignored in the UK.

I think there's something about the car that works. Sort of does exactly what it says on the tin. I found it a pleasure to drive.

Like the S2000, it's the price that blows everything else out of the water.

It's not the speed of the WRX that was lacking, it was that grinning "oomph" factor.

Perhaps I should look at a 2L jobbie - when did they stop making them?

I need to find someone with a WRX PPP to see how that feels i think - the mpg is going to be a real limiting factor if it really is this bad

Have you considered going for the car you like and removing the picnic table off the back.

If I were going to buy another scoob it would have to be a late PPP 2L WRX. It's far better for uk roads than the STi, plenty quick enough AND it still has the "flat four" burble. The 2.5L has equal length headers and has all but lost it, which is half the character of the car gone

And no picnic table too

Last of the 2.0's was 2005. Many UK cars were sold with the PPP kit already on there as it was on offer to try once again to tempt people away from the imports. PPP kit costs

Hmmm ok so a year old car I could get a 2L with the PPP - what does the PPP pack give you exactly?

It is a true 2L? Our fuel allowance is a measly 11.5p up to 2L (i.e. the S is 1998 so it's 11.5p) but 2L and above is 13.5...

PPP is on their website.

A few months ago I drove an 02 JDM STi and couldn't stop laughing every time the turbo came in. What a fecking hoot to drive! Completely bonkers.
It did have a decat though.

This sort of thing is what I'd be looking at. I really don't like the spammed up cars and most of them out there are sadly. The ideal would be a UK 2005 WRX PPP with low milage and otherwise untouched. The one above has the added advantage of leather, sunroof and heated seats. The UK cars take a massive hit in depreciation the second you drive them off the forecourt. That will have been comfortably over
