Default The 25k game...

I have a new job and it has expanded my vehicle selection options

Having thought about this for a while I have narrowed down potential purchases to the one of the following. It does have to be a daily driver really, although my mileage will be reduced a good bit. Has to be trackworthy, including travelling there and back under its own steam!

Skyline R34 GTR - Ok now it's not everyones cup of tea but for me its the top of the Jap food chain and a dream car of mine. Prices are falling as many are switching to the new GTR, which also makes some of the 35k second prices seem unrealisitc. 500 bhp is and I can't see any downsides Ok it's still a lot of money for an 8 year old car.

Exige / Exige S - bit of an off the wall choice but with big chunks of time off work I want to have some fun, and these are fun, if impractical. I can't help thinking 25k for a plastic car is a bit much. And 40k for a new Exige S Get out of here. Goes agaisnt my Jap rule.

22b - bit of an off the wall one. Another dream car of mine, although the novely is wearing off. It's an old car, albeit a rare one and the huge plus is you buy a good one and you will not lose money on it - maybe even make a few quid.

Evo 9 - Of course it had to be in there Best car I have owned and 20k can get a 10k miles 05 plate. They do hold their value pretty well too.

NSX - i'm not convinced I would get a good one for my money? Also really don't like the look of the back end, which I know is an odd thing to say about such an iconic drivers car. Interior is dated too. Would it be quick enough?

STi Spec C (05/06) - I swore i'd not have another scoob! More fun to drive than an Evo and really does punish all in its wake. I would have to ditch the rear wing and Lexi lights on the back Depreciation is ok on Spec C models.

E46 M3 - nice but I swore a long time ago never to buy a non Jap car. I'd like a silver saloon one though. Bit like arseholes, everyone's got one (joke ADP)

Could keep the S and buy a decent Evo 8 too but having 2 cars seems too extravegant!

And I ran out of ideas there.

Any comments / suggestions?

I don't think Pistonheads are keen on people nicking their bandwidth to post on other forums.

we have a scarily similar taste in cars

Out of those choices it boils down to either the Spec C or the R34 for me. The spec C is an incredible point to point car but in the end id probably still buy the GTR.

I will be purchasing one next year

If you dont like the big spoiler of the Spec C, why not go for the Spec D, something I am considering myself at the moment.

NSX, or Exige, way more classy than the others IMO

NSX is a very classy car but also looking very dated these days.

If the R34 is your dream car - follow your dreams

I would still suggest a beater though for getting to work and back.

I love my diesel - makes the S feel that much more special

If I was you, Exige. Great car for a young single chap like yourself.

Truth be told though all those cars are awesome and well within your budget (the NSX is but you wont get a stunner for that and an R is utterly out of the question).

Wouldn't bother with any other scoob than the 22b personally because the 22b is just brilliant and a true classic, the rest is pretty ugly. As for the Evo, well it's servicing that bothers me that and thirst! You know my thoughts on the M3 it's a me too car and when you see one you assume the guy behind the wheel is a cock.

I love the R34 it's very tuneable and looks utterly bananas the way a jap sports car should

I think your non jap rule is blinkered and is not necessary.

Two cars is not extravagant
