If an Exige made it on to your list, surely a i-VTEC Type R converted Elise has got to be worth a test drive?
One conversion company (via a link posted by Russ 41H) claims 40+ mpg(!?)

Looks that way Gritty
Lucky - I think now is the time to own a GTR before they age too far.
Rob - i'm not a fan of the Spec D. I prefer the Type 25 rear wing so that's what i'd go for.
Boab - only think about the 22b is it's nearly a 10 year old car and you can't get panels for them any more - really expensive if you prang one. The Spec C is a truly awesome machine so that is preferred out of the 2 I think. Something about that 22b though....
Steve - its an option but i'm not keen on the Elise for some reason. Hard to find a ready converted one too
In summary I think the Evo is the sensible choice as I can get a top one for the budget. I would never buy new though. Servicing costs don't bother me, i've owned one before and it's cheaper than running a Porsche which is what you have to compare it to in a performance sense. If oyu own a true performance car, you got to pay the money
That said i'm still confused and not ruled any of them out. I think a lot of test driving in my time off is required!
Heart says GTR or Exige.

I don't think you'll see the true R34 GTR price slump until the official UK cars are sold over here, which is in 2009 IIRC.
I'd have the NSX, although 22B and GTR would be contenders.
I'm assuming you haven't driven all of these before, so that is the most important thing to decide on.
I thought about selling the S for an 111R Elise a couple of years ago, when we had the Smart Roadster, and the price just didn't justify the physical car. It's the same basic idea as the Smart (albeit faster and better) but for a

I agree, although they have already dropped a fair bit. There are several apparent good ones up for between 24 and 27k with 40-60k miles on them. The gulf of price gap down to the 33 GTR is huge, so the new GTR is creating a ceiling. The worry is that I buy one for 25k now and it takes a hit - something I have always avoided. Also when they hit 10 years old the floodgates for SVA testing open and there will be a good number of them around. I'm too impatient though
Good point on driving them too. I've driven a 33 GTR, been in a 22b (not too different to my STi in reality) sat in an Exige and never been in an NSX!

Steven, I bet the Exige is a bloody load of fun. Only problem will be if I have to do any sort of journey, which isn't that often.
I also have the Exige vs Exige S battle. #25 is the bottom end of Exige S market. I supect there is a big difference in the power, given the weight...

Acceleration was awesome and cornering grip even more impressive.
If I didn't need my car to be occasionally practical I would get one.

It is rare that I can sit in a car and feel compfortable enough to push it from the off.

Exige is the way forward
You lot are bad for my health
In a way though it will be cheap to use on a track, compared with the Skyline which will be heavy on brakes etc. The Exige S has over engineered AP's on it! (think its an optional extra?)
