and a lot of boredom.. the primera must be really interesting to keep you awake

Best car I've ever bought (when you factor in that it cost 1/12th the price of the S).I'd quite like to see what it could do on a certain German toll road.

My Primera is ace.
Really. I keep arriving at work with a bit of an adreniline buzz after doing 100mph+ along the twists of the A3 in the wet.

BTW, my Primera GT has:
Double wishbone suspension (on the front)
Chain driven camshafts
2.0 16v engine with bugger all torque.
Any of this sounding familiar?

My recommendation would be a 306 D-Turbo. Torquey, quite rapid, cheap to run and relatively refined for a cheap car. Be aware that build quality is not up there with VW, though...
Very reliable and cheap to run. Just make sure that you buy a 97+ model as the 96s need servicing every 6000 miles. I think the ones after that are on at least 12, maybe 18k service intervals.

We've got a 1.5 323 which must do about 38mpg. Fecking boring to drive though
I'm determined to get something more interesting (and automatic) next year.

bloody luxury
I get exactly 20.6 out of the current beater (although you can't knock it for comfort and has a reasonable amount of get up and go)
