Be aware that a number of 4x4s don't actually have much boot depth.
Estates tend to have more depth but less height of course.

I think you will get a lot more for your money buying an estate. In that price range, loads of Audi A6s, BMW 5 series, Volvo V70 (my recommendation) etc.

freelander - mixed ive had one tehy are ' car ' like to drive and quite roomy BUT lots of issues with drive shafts and clutches / gearboxS to be honest you CANT beat a discovery,

I've got a Hilux Surf (Same as the UK LandCruiser Colarado).

But as yours will not be used off road, I'd suggest it's a bit overkill for your needs.

But it is massively roomy, the boot opens flat (no lip to drop stuff over) which helps loads with lugging stuff about.

And it's a Taliban fave, so you'll know it'll last a while.

4x4 will not be as big as a big estate car. Plenty of excellent choices out there at the moment

we had a subaru forester turbo (we had a filter, exhaust, and remap too).

i'd have one again in a heartbeat if the need arose to have a large estate car.
