Got done for speeding down the M20 last week, trying to get to the Channel Tunnel for the time I'd booked. I was quite annoyed with myself, mostly because after years of nothing this was the second one in 2 months.

Both were fixed penalties, so

the cost is in your insurance. 6 points probably equates to a 20-30-% loading on premiums for 5 years.

I think the fine should be larger with no points much like a parking ticket unless the margin is classed as dangerous.

For me the points are deterrent enough.
I'd happily pay a hell of a lot more and not take the three points if that was an option.
