many diesel drivers believe their cars are fast - marketing has a lot to answer for

many are forced into a diesel by company policy or financial straits

many are tightwads

many desire real performance

many resent those that have it

this is not a good combination

it's reflected in other types of vehicle that you find driven by utter ****s

People these day do seem to think they are more important than everyone else, and how dare you get in their way even for a second. I have sat in my car and made idiots wait longer than is necessary because they are being a bit too pushing in a car park type situation.

As much as "brake" testing the tailgater behind sounds like a great idea, I think it's probably best to avoid this practise. You don't want an accident with the pleb behind. Just imagine the hassle with that insurance claim. Just slow down gradually and/or let them pass by if they feel the need to be in front.

I have however heard of people fitting a switch which when flicked applies the brake lights but doesn't slow the car. Now that is what you want

Let these tw@ts get on with their journey so with a bit of luck they will have an accident that doesn't involve you.

no brake testing for me

I just brake late and hard - opposite to my Mum who brakes gently and continuously about half a mile from her destination

kids run into the road, or look as though they are going to, all the time

one can't take chances in such circumstances

try finding an example of someone running into the back of someone and escaping 100% blame

I think you will struggle

After driving down to Englandshire and back again over the weekend, I came across a few people who seem to think that they have right of way over everyone else. There would be a huge qeues in the fast lane with numerous cars in front, yet you still seem to find some person behind you flashing their lights to get in front of you?!

To me, does not make any sense. If I move over they will still only be going the same speed as before. People like this need bitch slapped.

From the squeal of brakes behind me, and the idiot in the beat up volvo shouting the odds at me, it was clear that I hadn't been told about the change in traffic regulations when I stopped at a roundabout to give way to traffic from the right last week.

Suffice it to say that coincided with me suddenly developing a very light right foot as I pulled away and pootled quite gently up the road for about 3 miles before leaving him as a diminishing speck in the mirror at the next roundabout.

A lot of that is just frustration building up until they lose it; no excuse, but it's partially the fault of the roadplanners deliberately creating obstructions to wind up car drivers. It works brilliantly, and when the killings start, some will choose pubic transport instead. In a socialist dreamworld...

Having said that, maybe they ARE more important than you or are on a mission from God, so it's best not to add to their frustration by deliberately blocking them. See, when you're dead, you'll not be able to bask in the moral highground.

If it's 106 miles to Chicago, they've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and they're wearing sunglasses, then this is most likely the case.

Apparently the local scroats that hang around tesco have decided its great fun to scrape trolleys up the side of cars. So not only do we have to deal with twats who leave trolleys, middle and outside lane hoggers, fog light fettishes and tailgaters we now have these warts to look out for. Motoring just gets better and better.
I quite like the comming on and off the throttle technique accompanied with the washers. Do that for a mile there spitting feathers.

lots of people out there with a serious problem at the moment

tailgaters rarely stay on my tail long - my style is to brake VERY hard and VERY late and I can't see what's difficult about taking responsibility for leaving a safe stopping distance

Childish and dangerous.

I hope you can live with yourself when you cause a five car pileup and kill someones kids.

At least you can revel in the knowledge it was all their fault for following too close.

it would be their fault

if you assume I brake because I don't need to, then you're wrong

I've got a kid run out in front of me (or an equal hazard)

I stand on the brakes

always assuming I can't swerve and kill myself and someone else in a head on

I think I can sleep easy
