Default Alpine help!

Right,

The EVO has some tasty sound system. A Rockford head unit with about 4 pre outs, Sub and Genesis amp.

It appears 2 of the pre outs are used for the front and rear speakers, and the third must be going to the amp? not sure what is driving the sub?

I bought an Ipod Ready Alpine 9850 RI and went ot fit it, only to discover it only has 1 pre out (yes im a dumbass and didnt check )

Now I want an Ipod Compatible Alpine unit.

So if I buy an Ipod ready one (not the one like mine with inbuilt cable) with 3 or 4 pre outs what adapter do I need for it for the Ipod. I dont get the difference between the 420i unit and a cable that plugs into the back of the Ipod ready ones

The Ri ones dont need anything.

Im looking at the 9853R or similar. What do I need with this for Ipod action?! Does it take up any of the pre outs?

I've got a 9853R .. and on the back I had a Alpine input hole. This then goes to the 420 box which plugs into the iPod.

The hole looks like ->

Think this is the Ai-Net.

There is also a square connector on a small wire. think that is for the Amp interface.

The voltage supplied to the pre-outs, usually going to an amp. The higher the voltage the better.

Cool, thanks Bibbs.

So I guess 2v is probably ok.

Will go with the 9853R and 420i. Not sure what difference the 9854R is??

Also, am I right in saying:

One set of pre outs is feeding the front, and one the rear, the 3rd must be going to the amp?

Three pre outs ..

Front
Rear
Sub

It's just the names to tweak on the headunit menu for balance etc.

You can use an amp on any of them, currently I have only amped the sub. I will be amping the doors "when I can be arsed". But then the dash Mute button wont work.

Dunno about the 9854R, I just got the unit from CarAudioDirect - about
