Another growing trend
I have not travelled for any great distance on the M1 or M25 recently but had to travel down to Botters Bar yesterday on business.
On the way back I noticed that more and more people are driving on motorways with just their side lights on when it is dark?? Why would you do that it makes it that much harder to see the car approaching in your rear view mirror!!!
It still beggars beleif how people hog the fast lane, one guy I came across had a clear road in front of him in all lanes yet was still in the fast lane, he moved over and eventually let me past only to return back to the fast lane when I had gone past him.
On a plus side I managed to get 30.7mpg out of my C4s at a steady 78mph.

lane discipline is terrible in this country - easily the worst bad habit out there
I think that is absolutely true. Having done 1600 miles around Germany last year on a road trip, it makes our motorways look like a muppets convention trip out. If i have to travel on the motorway, usually the M1, its fortunately usually no more than a few junctions but anymore and I have to resort to undertaking the dicks who have no clue what lane to use. I actually find at certain times that the inside lane is the best for making progress

Pete Don't be ridiculous.
If you exectuted people at the roadside - everyone else would rubberneck and that would slow us down more.
Wait till the get home... then have the police execute them.
With luck they will have their own driveway - and that will free up some street parking too.

the amount of people who will get 'in lane' ie the r/h lane
a mile or more before they need to, is incredible
what IS the big deal with moving over to let someone past, or keeping left until you are nearer your turn? (we are not talking congested roads here, where you will not be able to get over)
and if that's such a problem, and you absolutely must stay in the r/h at 60mph for a mile or two, why get upset when I breeze up your inside without carving you up in the slightest?
these people need to be summarily executed at the roadside

I'm driving between Brighton and Worthing a lot at the moment and I'm sure it's much worse here than my part of Essex or anywhere for that matter.
A whole string of us undertook an A-Class merc the other day and afterwards the driver showed no sign taking the hint and of moving over.

But also agree with Mr Pode, not on the roadside, only when parked up, and then thier cars to be made available to those with lane control abilities

I am sure I have said this elsewhere, but Mr CJ "invented" the round in circles thing (applies only if you have the time)
first over take loon in middle lane, pull to slow lane, slow down let loon pass you, pull back out behind them to outside lane, pass them, pull into slow lane, slow down etc etc etc etc etc
Apparently it takes no more than 2 passes for the message to sink in.
