Any thoughts on the Smart car
Just tell her to wait a few years and She can have a Gordon Murray designed 3 seater.

Joy at last; on the basis his projected pricing stands, I shall be one of the first in line for the petrol version!
So until the electric option comes down from twice the price for half the range they can all forget it.
Buying a car that I cannot drive to the M25 on a full charge (or even to Nottingham
) from home without setting up Everest Base Camp is a non starter and certainly not at > twice the price. I really don't need to do a spreadsheet for this decision.2nd hand petrol cabrio FourTwo coming up ... colours ... options ... stereo ...
My other half has had 2 Smarts over many years ...a 700cc remapped fourtwo and for the last 5 years a Fourtwo Passion cabrio with a 1L 84bhp engine. She loves them !
I have to say, I was dead against them until I drove one. they are tardis like and have a bigger boot than you realise for the size of car. The gearboxes are far better than the originals though are still a bit awkward and nothing like a normal auto. The handling agan used to be rubbish and is now far better sorted.
I personally wouldn't go electric. The Mhd 71 bhp version gives great mpg - though make sure it has the drive belt mod by the dealer (they have been snapping). I think you are looking mid 50's mpg.
The panels being plastic means car park dinks are almost a thing of the past ! The most we have had is scuffs as the panel doesn't dent like metal. Almost worth buying just to do the shopping .... I just got a quote - 2K deposit and 119 a month on PCP for 3 yrs 10K miles. 5.3 APR with about 3.5-4K to pay at the end or give the car back.
I have recently driven a diesel one (83mpg - govt figures urban !!) and loved it. I may even buy one to go with the Beemer and used the Smart just for work ! I was that impressed - and no, I am not gay

A client had a Brabus.
That fixed the gearchange & the handling; it was quite tidy on roundabouts, but hated road tits. You thought you'd end up staring at the sky.
Due to the stress, the Mitsubishi kei-car engines are short-lived and not that cheap to rebuild. Hence it was outed.
Battery-operated is probably a definition of insanity; keep building the same thing every decade for a century and expecting different results.
