Anyone driven the Civic Type R ?
A company car beckons and with the new tax rules a S2000 doesn't go. It's between a Type R and a Mini Cooper, with the heart saying Type R and the pocket saying Mini. Has anyone had the chance to drive the Type R ? I think the Mini may loose as i'll miss the Vtec too much.
you folks in the u.k. are lucky to be getting the Type-R Civic..we yanks don't get all the good stuff you guys get and i'm jealous..well, sorta..
we are getting an Si, but it's with 160hp, not 200hp line in the u.k. can anyone explain why the u.s. gets a watered down version? does it have to do with smog certification, etc?

I've not driven one, but there are some reports on the Honda-R message board.
CTR Test Drives
There are delays in getting test drives, and cars. Apparently it's paint problems - Honda didn't want to release the demonstrators unless the paint was perfect.

really, no Integra Type-R for brits? i thought for sure you guys have it..i'm pretty sure..at least according to the british car mags i read..and the new RSX..i guess over there it's still called the Integra? the Type-R version is out in japan already, i wonder when we'll be getting that car..
i'm guessing that the smog certification here in the states is a big hassle for manufacturers to sell many cars..is it not quite as strict over there?

I use to have a classmate at Art Center of Pasadena (School of Design) He bought a Civic HX and imported all the type-R parts and put together the first Civic Type-R in US.....hes spend 28k just on parts and labor alone....but the car is amazin! We drove up a hill with a Mustang 4.6 and Mustang was having a hard time keeping up.

oh, i was going to ask..it's been a while since i've been to England, but whatever happened to Morrissey? i think 6yrs ago when i was in London, i recall reading something about his whereabouts..as if he's missing/in hibernation perhaps?
speaking of civics, i rode with a guy the other day at Buttonwillow Raceway who had a 92-95 hatch with a B18C5 (ITR engine)..what a rush! it was at an ITR club track day and i was riding around in an S2k passing every Type-R, when a little white hatch comes around, engine revving to infinity..i remember thinking, who the hell is that? so i talk to the guy, and his hood (bonnet)is open..to my surprise, a B18C5, ITR brakes and 3.5kg Racing Harts..riding with him, watching the tach needle swing past the normal D16Z6(SOHC VTEC) 7200 rpm redline all the way to 8600 rpm before shifting..holy smokes man..
