Default Anyone driven Silverstone?

Thinking of doing the GP circuit on Saturday with Bat.

Is it a good track?

Sounds like a silly question but i've heard a few people say it's so wide your car gets a bit lost unless it's something silly fast.

Help appreciated

Not driven it for a good few years, but i wouldn't drive it again for a trackday.

Bit dull to be honest.

I only ever raced there because people will come to visit Silverstone because they've heard of it.
I did a trackday on the GP circuit in the S2000, too wide, too much tarmac runoff - it's a power circuit, but that power needs to be several hundred horsepower to get any challenge from Silverstone.

As I've said before, F1 has neutered Silverstone, and will probably do the same to Donington.

For the reasons above. Too wide, too fast, no real challenge to drive it in a road car.

Edit: Mark beat me too it

Anything else going on in the next week down south?? Donny and rockingham are a bit dull i find.

I have driven a Fezza 348 round that track, rubbish car that was. Then a Lotus elise which was much more fun. Only track I have ever driven so can't compare it but I would say its a high speed track with not many bends so probably not that good.

Suppose the other way of looking at it, is that you can have a really good play with the car with some safety margin. Just looked on YouTube and doesn't seem that exciting. Guess it's just something to say you have done.

Its really not that exciting. If you find the likes of Donington and Rockingham boring you'll find silverstone really boring.

You'd have more fun at Bedford.

I did it in a tuned Saxo VTS - bucket seats, roll cage, fully adjustable suspension, etc.

It was a massive track but I still enjoyed it and its worth doing once. Getting the corner sequence after the Bridge (Priory, Luffield, Woodcote) onto the Pit Straight is nice, and also a good place to hang the back end out if you're so inclined. Don't get carried away at Copse though, lot of people crash there and you soon reach the tyre wall even with all that run-off!

Also its a decent surface in the dry, so won't require you to change all 4 tyres like Bruntingthorpe and a few other tracks do - they really kill your tyres! It's pretty lethal in the wet though - then you really will have the back end wagging
