The original tracker seems to be the only one that uses the vhf radio signal to locate the car, the others that depend on gps and gsm can be blocked easily with a small cigarette lighter mounted device.
I have the "tracker" tracker, it really does give peace of mind.

It depends what you want the tracker for, for £250 fitted inc one year subscription you get the retrieve.
You see the car is stolen, phone tracker who activate it and the police find it.
If you want real time tracking of your vehicle via gps then go for a different system.

£250 is the one I want, ie if it gets TWOCd then I can call a number. Not interested in realtime stuff. Would only see when the missus is out at the shops or elsewhere

Thanks for the advice. I think I know what to go for now.

I went for one of these

http://skytag-gps.co.uk/

So far the battery has gone flat twice and each time i have had an message come in to tell me that my vehicles power had dropped or been disconnected. So it shows they are watching. Its not very costly and is very east to fit. Its an impressive system and they have the fastest recovery time record. It is a GPs & GPRS system but i does also does a vehicle track to follow before the signal is lost.

I think it cost me £150 with 3 month cover and then it was only £87per year after that or £7per month.

They also offer a customer discount if you buy more units after the first one...

This is the one I always have. Really because insurers want it - I'm not particularly interested in getting a stolen car back unless it's within about 5 minutes of it being stolen. Different if it's a rare 60's Lambo but you would just get another one if your RS4 went walkies. If you want the car back, look at Blackjack.

I would be looking closely at your home and personal security. Your new car will be a target.

in the larger cities the BMs like mine have had lots of unwanted attention. Is there an Audi RS forum? Go have a look there.

Debadge it.

Mine is parked on the drive, my insurers can replace it and if someone tries to knock for my keys I have a basement where we could discuss it for a while
