Nikasil lined block IIRC. Many have had replacement engines because of this.
Thats about all I know I'm afraid.

I remember something about this......thanks Lee

I guess that should be in the documentation so I will check tomorrow

Or even on a Jaguar database for that matter

The main dealer that used to do my Double Six were pretty helpful, so I'll ask them

Didn't Gazza have one - or an XKR?

Yup, seek out Gareth Pete - he has an unhealthy fascination for all things Jaguar.

(As I am sure you have noticed, you can get an awful lot of XK8 for not a lot of money at the moment. Dark outside, light inside are the best combinations for thwse IMHO).

Gazzer had an XKR I think.
They certainly can be had for a song and are a good looking car. Ironically probably more reliable and put together than the new one.

well, I've offered to buy this thing

but only at the asking price, less a bit, less the cost of a main dealer doing everything it needs

ball in other court basically

not a car I want - just a car I might buy

They have a major issue around 60K. The engine wears a hole in the subframe and needs to be replaced. I was told this by a friend that was looking into buying one.

Got to admit it has a cetain presence.

No, this is a boggo standard car. 50:50 whether I go for it at the moment.

Couldn't find anything about engines dropping through subframes.

In any event, the car will go to a Jag main dealers and get a microscopic once over before any money changes hands.

I should know more later.
