Do you earn commission for every VXR8 you sell?! If not, you really should; from the posts I've seen from you extolling their benefits, Vauxhall/Opel/Holden must've seen the sales of VXR8's treble since you purchased yours!

It's all the Emperor's New Clothes; that's why so many here recommend the Legacy instead.
DSG isn't particularly unreliable - but it is bloody expensive when it does go wrong, hence exhortation to warranty.

I haven't driven the newer Legacy but tooled around in a few in the Alps back in the ski-bum day, where everyone had one and swore by them, which speaks volumes.

I did propose the legacy to the wife... as soon as I mentioned 'Subaru' she was far from impressed, despite it being a far cry from any Impreza. Apparently they are driven by chavs and chavs alone...

Doesn't necessarily have to be an estate, I just prefer the looks of the avant to the saloon and the extra load capacity seems like a sensible option. Trouble is, I just can't think of anything else..

Like I said, when i was young, free and single, my car choice was dictated solely by what was fastest and likely to attract as much attention as possible from the opposite sex.

What's the going rate for a GT100 these days?! (don't worry I am sat down...)

Quiet the opposite with the Legacy - a well kept secret
Get her to try a Spec B tourer then ask the same questions

Accord Tourer?

BTW don't write of the Volvo tourers either

I embarrassed to say that I am considering a V50. I quite like the looks and they are also excellent value.

The Subaru thing stems from the badge, so could be the best car in the world, but she'd never drive it.

As for the accord, despite having the S and the civic, I don't really like Honda's, unless they are propoer ones, ITR, S2k ATR etc... The Type S was bought out of necessity and desperation at the time...

Pretty sold on the A6 Avant, we saw one at the pub last night and I do like them a lot.

Roos very popular with the landed gentry too, now that chavs drive Range Rovers!

Good luck with the M&S Wagen; they make Amy's bum look quite small - don't forget the warranty!

Show her a pic of a recent Legacy, don't tell her it's a Subaru and wait for the "Oh, that looks nice" then tell her it's a Subaru. She's probably got in her mind the image of the Imprezas with spoilers/scoops etc. and thinks all Subaru's are like that. Legacy's are one of motoring's best kept secrets imo.

When (!) I have to chop in the S2000, I will also probably be going the solid/reliable estate/4x4 route (I want to be able to chuck mountain bike in car). Manual Legacy Spec B is probably top of list - problem is fuel I can live with late 20s (which I get with the S2000) but not sure about low 20s..... And I don't want the slower versions.
