I was speaking to my Dad last week and we both agreed that an Audi R8 would be our choice of daily driver should our annual income ever be over £300k per year and it would be a used one at that!

Of course if you really wanted one you wouldn't need to be on anywhere near that much.

It's the only Audi I'd have though.

If I were to use anything that gauche as a DD, I'd probably hang on a couple more years and get something similar with a more anonymous badge.

I'd be open to suggestions Nick. The only one I can think of comparable is Porsche.

Having seen the way the R8 is built, the engine isn't completely crazy in terms of power, and the running gear is similar to an RS4 it just seems to make sense.

As it stands I know I'll end up getting a GT86 in a couple of years for the Mrs to potter around in.

Having been an Audi driver for 4 weeks , I will now refer to myself as a "cock" I must have been on the day i said yes !

They are not drivers cars full stop ! To many gizmos and electronic aids, the driver is almost surplus to requirements, a taxi

The arrogance and self worship of Audi dealers is fun to

the R8 looks OK and is pretty anonymous. i reckon most would think it's a TT

but it's too heavy. you may as well get an M3/M5

for a DD i think a GTR would be better

Indeed. I'm getting quite used to torque vectoring...

I mustard mit the R8 is the only Audi I'd even look at, but I'd sooner fit it with DKW or Horch or Wanderer badges. Or just Auto-Union, whose lineage it shares. Or even Skoda ones...

An Audi that I hold a lot of respect for is the a2. Mine was bloody awesome. It was the fast one ;-) a 90 bhp that was easily Chippable. I had it 5 years and as easily as it would do 20 around town, it would ton it on the mway. I'd have another in a shot. Tiny to park but tardis like. 4 full grown easily. Fishing tackle for 2.and I have a lot. Cracking cae

I'd forgotten those - the last truly innovative Audi?
