As promised here are some photos I took from last Saturday. It was a lovely surprise by Doris to take me there. She's not a massive car buff, but knows more about them than she lets on
Some of the nicest looking cars were to be found on the Alfa stand
This Aspid looks like a Caterham/Westfield clone but it looks so much better IMO. The enclosed cabin and funky doors/roof opening looked awesome.
Some amazing cars on the AutoGlym stand.
Doris was rather taken with the XJ220
Oh my God I like an American car
Oh bugger yet another nice American car. What's the chances of that happening
Check out this mad Citroen.
The new Ford Focus RS. Have to agree that the new Fiesta was really cheap and nasty inside. It was nice of Ford to hand out free ice lollies though
I'll skip the nasty S2000 concept thingie, but here are some of the CR-Z instead.
I rather liked this crazy Hummer concept SUV. Some really mad styling meant it got lots of attention from the show goers.
I liked the look of this Kia concept coupe. I did feel that due to the absence of some of the stronger brands the minos made much more of an effort
I hate 4x4's but this one, much like the Hummer caught my eye
Car of the show was the GTR, but this came a very close second
Doris rather liked this AC Schnitzer version of the Mini Cooper. Have to admit it looked very
The Caparo T1 wasn't get much attention until I pointed out to the tools taking photos of the large Audi TT (R8 ). In near unison they all turned round and started snapping away at the Caparo
A crazy Morgan concept
Automotive perfection? The massive video wall behind was showing the full lap of the Nurburgring.
The new Spyker and a Spyker bike
The Top Gear police cars made an appearance
And finally that crazy Toyota Aygo race car jobbie
One thing I forgot to mention was that I was chatting to the Lotus guys, and whilst on the stand I hoped in the Exige S. It would be rude not to. I had to fold myself in half to get in, but I was okay once inside..........problem came to getting out as the inside door handle was bust, and I found myself stuck in a 43k sports car. Doris had to let me out in the end
Drove the ZoomZoom Mazda 2 and Mazda MX-5. Both under powered and very understeery. Not allowed out of 2nd.
The "new S2000" was a bit Lotus Elan. Not a fan.
The GT-R didn't do anything for me in the flesh. Just looked like a 350z in a posh frock.
New Lotus looks weird and out of proportion.
The Lexus LFA looks a little bit awesome. Proper supercar looks.
The Caparo was hidden away on some mini stand and largely ignored.
Alfa red is loverly.
The new Corvette ZR-1 was fairly under advertised (I'd like to have seen it like the GT-R with the video etc, just to rub salt in the wounds of Nissan).
And one of the kit cars hod a Vortec charger on an F20C ..
The best bit of the day was the Historic show, where we got to see two of my fave cars, a 1973 RS and an F40 blat, round the small track.
