I'm going to budget for a battery and a set of leads / plugs - it's just had new coolant so that's good. I'm also considering cutting holes in the under tray to allow easy access to the other radiator clamps.

It's cheaper to run / crash / destroy this than an S2000 and that's what I think you need to focus on when you run a beater.

My mums neighbour reversed into my Micra recently sticking a dent in the driver wing and breaking some of the plastic clips on the headlight. If that had been the S2000 that's already more damage than the Micra is worth outright.

Well, it's often easier to avoid an accident in a tiny car, as UF discovered.

A miss is as good as a mile!

Looking at one of these or a lupo or arosa. Not sure if it's worth looking at A diesel one if the fiat does 55mpg.

Tdi Arosa 1.4 is fun .... the 1.7SDI is miserable but efficient. The 1.0 Arosa S is a fun frugal thing and the handling / chuckability hides the lack of power.

I retired my S to weekend duties about 6 months after I bought it, having put 18k miles on it in that time, and bought a Pug 106 1.1. I used it for my 80 mile commute for more than 4 years, it did 50mpg despite being mercilessly thrashed every day, and all it cost me was 6 tyres (155 R13's so cheap as chips), an exhaust (£20 for a nearly new complete system of eBay), a set of front pads and discs and a set of rear shoes (OEM quality from Brakes International, but still cheap as chips), and a battery.

It was a proper, honest little car and it did me proud - never once let me down. The only reason for ditching it was the lack of ABS, airbags and the knowledge that I'd fare much better in modern metal if a rogue truck on the M3 ever tried to get cosy with me.

I've leased an Ibiza 1.6 TDi FR now. I'm willing to bet its reliability record won't match up to the Pug though.

4 new tyres on, princely sum of £250 quid fitted and balanced. Reasonably sticky Maxxis MA-Z1. Had them on the S2000 originally and they didn't cope so well with 240bhp .... they cope just fine with 54bhp. Checked the forums and i'll make that back ( with wheels) if i need to offload them.

Also fitted one of these - http://www.caraudiod...a-receiver.html I needed something for bluetooth / hands free / usb playing and this was a bargain. As i'm spending up to 2 hours a day going back and forth, having a handsfree option is essential.

Air filter, oil filter and 4 plugs bought and will give it a basic service at the weekend. So far, the engine is as sweet as a nut Got some nice cheap 10W40 Semi Synth to go in it now that its had a good few runs to shift the old crap out of any lazy corners.

Are you going to remove the sub from the S2000 and put it in this?

Something to stick the boring miles on?

What boring miles? I don't have any boring ones, they're all fun:
