Compared to your GTR it's a beater - it counts on that basis

I keep looking at 530D and pondering ... some of those are happy to do 250k + miles - they're also a very nice place to be.

Replaced 2 lower arms, engine and gearbox mounts and removed the anti roll bar - new trackrod ends to fit but the originals are rusted in situ - after a good check for play ... they're manky but not fecked.

Next up ... top mounts.

Enjoyableish but access without a ramp or a pit is a pain - 6 hours all in which isn't too bad.

Why are you spending all this time and money to drive a banger?

For what its cost you think of the all the fuel you could have put in your sports car.

And tyres, and servicing. Plus I get the impression he's having fun doing the work and not stressing that if he can't put something back together he still has a car for work.

Nail on head Philip

Giff - the S2000 is now on 96k miles, doing 1500 miles a month is literally going to kill it on the commute - i've done the S2000 'only car' thing and it was fun but the cost of fuel, tyres, servicing, depreciation plus wear and tear on the roof and other consumables meant I was unwilling to continue. As it stands, it has reached a value that I am unhappy to decrease further by using it to do something the Fiat does just as well.

Parts are dirt cheap, it's just time really. If circumstances change, I'm'm not stuck with a finance deal on a C1 / iQ / Aygo / Yaris that i don't need. If i decide i do want one of those, this goes in part ex against one.

Top mounts are £30 a pair - i have spring compressors and removing the struts is easy enough now I've cleaned the relevant threads on the bolts and plusgassed everything.

Anyway I've got 3 weeks off work and it's nice to have the time to go and tinker with stuff.

Sounds like the perfect excuse for time in the man cave, away from the MIL over Christmas.

I know someone with a 1.2 lump to go in a seicento. These tweak up to 100hp.

100BHP in something so thin, with such poor brakes and with such a poor NCAP rating is a recipe for disaster I'll be staying well away from such madness
