thx for the heads up.. never really watched 5th gear.

TG is now really a cartainment show. rather than a show about cars..

it's good contrast to have pro drivers that try to speak..even if their tv style is not as good as the pro-presenters who try to drive..

Normally do a "best of. . ." just before a new series starts, or when it has just ended.

I don't remember it being on recently

But I reckon they do a very good job of it. My wife actually reminds me its on sometimes - lets just take a moment to reflect on that..........my wife reminds me to sit down and watch a car problem ...................................Fantastic

It does leave the door open for a serious car programme though - why doesn't anyone do it?

I suspect for the reasons intimated

that journos can't drive

and drivers can't entertain

and imagine the EVO nerds on TV....

journos who really think they can drive

I think I'd rather watch Max Power TV

than the pretentious twaddle that would dribble out of Barker et al

don't get me wrong..

I really love TG.. but it is very heavily produced.. the budget must be pretty massive.

In TG mag, JC gave some background to the work needed to make one episode..it's more effort than making a feature film with the amount of post film production/editing that is needed to put together some of the segments... and looking at the final output quality - I can really believe it.

"Best of 5th Gear"? By definition that program sound be no more than a few minutes long and consist mainly of VBH bending over and some cars being revved.
