interesting views on the value of the S, i 'heard' that the market was pretty good at the minute....
The well looked after older models are holding their value well, but I think the new more expensive models aren’t holding their value - - from a buyers point of view a 4 year old for 14k might be a better deal than a 1 year old for 20k – especially when they are both effectively the same car ifswim
For racing or tracks could you go for a lower end caterham? Or some other lightweight open wheel kit type thing – this could make it much easier to tow?
Just get in the S and drive the wheel nuts off. That's what it was designed for. If you're not having fun in it then you are not driving it hard enough. I have always run rear wheel drive cars with too much power for the size. If you don't think there is enough power then flog the GT100, buy an older one and slap a GarageR turbo on it and doubble the wheel horsepower.
M3s are for hairdressers, posers, and those with small willies who need some sort of external ego stroking.
Just my two pence worth...

That label has been pointed at the S2000 plenty of times too though
I disagree with the M3 though, it's not a new car anymore and anyone wanting to pose isn't going to do it in a 15k car.I'm not one for labels, you can do it for most cars so if you listened to that you wouldn't buy anything.
Phil, maybe a driving limits day would help? Or a track day? It will get you to learn the limits a bit more for road driving...
