It was like he was double de-clutching 3rd. And he was bricking it. Underrstandably when you're driving a million dollar car that isn't yours. I don't think a 1:04 is that clever around Tsukuba.
In fact after checking, a little DC5 Integra will do it in 1:09! Also seen a vid with an HKS Evo VIII doing it in 55secs.

It did look wet and did have loads of issues going from 2nd to 3rd.
I didn't think it looked like he was giving it 100%... apparently it was Takumo Sato driving, so he was probably concerned about ditching 'another' car

Yeah he did seem to have problems with the 2-3 change.
Apparently the F1 is quite soft as it was designed 100% for the road (look at how it dips under braking) which is why they had to mess about with it quite a lot to make it competitive in racing (with the GTR versions). That actually isn't a bad lap for a road car - I think the record is about 56s, held by a very tuned Skyline.
