BMW 118d
My wife has a 2008 BMW 118d - it's done about 26,000 miles and has full BMW service history, done on time and at a main dealer from where it was bought.
The 3 year warranty expired last month.
Last night, the DSC/Traction Control warning lights came on and have remained on today indicating that there is a problem. Looking at BMW forums and Google etc, this seems to be a common fault and there may be a number of fixes for the problem.
However, where do you think we stand in terms of BMW having to sort this out at no cost to us. I think it would be outrageous if they expected us to even contribute to the repair, especially when this seems a common fault on BMW's. Arguably, as this is a 3 year old car maintained in the way BMW intended, and with very low miles, they should sort this out for free regardless of the warranty having expired - that's my view anyway.
Anyone had a similar experience?

Take the bulbs out or if they are LED's felt tip works well
Seriously though, I've always found BMW dealers very good, I think you will get a good chunk as "goodwill"
If you are keeping the car, put a warranty on it

The DSC part alone runs to about £1000, it's £1500 job at a dealer.
Occasionally a failing ABS sensor causes of alarms too, the error codes will tell you whats up.
This is a common failure though unfortunately.
Often people have got the part gratis and had to pay labour.
You need to negotiate with a friendly dealer
