San-if you have the reg of the car you can phone up bmw and get the cars history (at least over the telephone and assuming the work has been down through their dealers).
which number are you using for that Nigel?

BMW customer service number off their website. They'll give you some bs about confidentiality, but on the cars I have looked at they have always backed down. They'll give you some broad details and they will tell you which dealers it has been in to. Obviously armed with this info you can then phone up the dealers and ask them more specific questions about the work done.

The main cust service folks will tell you when it was serviced and most recent stuff will be on their computer. Prior services are held locally at the servicing dealer, so call them direct for info. All were happy to run through the history and what was done at each service for me.

By all means phone me if you want to chat after you've looked at it, and want to discuss what to offer. I'd come and see it with you but I await the gas man to fix my ch pump.
Pete...your advice is as always, fantastic.

Spent the afternoon in the place, going over the books. All seems in order and the car is in brilliant nick.

Checked with Parkers and the price is pretty spot on. Checked the bodywork carefully and there's not a dent or scratch. Engine bay's very clean.

When I get it, I'll post pics.

Picking it up tomorrow. They feel so solid.

I think we need a 5 series forum to rival the Porker forum.
