BMW drivers, avoid icy hills and
Knew I was taking a chance, especially having got the S stuck when I was playing in the snow yesterday but our FWD Volvo estate inspires confidence this weather. I was on a secret mission trying to source an obscure item for Mr. Q. The car handled the icy single-track hill admirably, I even stopped to take this snap halfway up.

Just got going again when a BMW appeared. It was out of control and careering towards me. I slammed the Volvo into reverse and frantically tried to get out of the way but it was sliding down the steepest part of the hill and gaining on me. Luckily he drove into the bank to avoid a collision. The, very nice-looking, young driver got out and apologised profusely saying that his car is rubbish in this weather then nearly fell over because he was wearing very stylish leather-soled shoes.

After ages faffing around, letting air out of tyres and my infamous halting reversing skills, during which a nice camaraderie developed, we and the gaggle of other vehicles that had become involved made it safely down.
I decided that discretion is the better part of valour and aborted my mission.
(I enjoyed the excitement as I do like living a bit dangerously, beats the pre-Christmas primping I should have been doing.

A stout brogue would surely be the footwear of choice for the discerning gent in these conditions.
Sadly, I, too, must admit to a leather soled loafer for work duties. Having said that, the car park footways have been cleared so it's really not an issue.
I've always been impressed at how well Volvos perform in the snow.

I always wear leather soled shoes to drive in as you can 'feel' the pedals, then I have a pair of boots, in the boot!
I bet that was scary! Quick thinking on both parts probably saved the day there...

Oh honestly, how vain was he not to have proper footwear? Even myself with a penchant for heels has been practically living in her Timberlands the last few weeks. The one time I didn't I fell and still have the bump on my shin to show for it!
Well done MQ for your patience and tolerance.
