BMW M5
Has anyone owned one of these cars or have knowledge of them?
I am considering a 2000 W reg with 86k on the clock, FSH and a fair few toys!
Really looking for advice on running costs (servicing particularly), engine longevity, common faults, what they are like to drive, etc - The usual when looking for a new car!
Any advice would be appreciated.

I've owned one for over three years
Ownership experiences can be found here

Have a read and ask away
Moggy and Ben Hampton also own E39 M5s
They are not cheap to run but the performance is not ordinary either

I bought a pre-facelift but it had all the toys and was an absolute minter. Also, was owned by a Scottish International footballer so have yet to find his stash of drugs.
Quite awesome car and that's from someone who lives on an island with a maximum 40mph speed limit and more supercars than you can shake a stick at.
It is still astounding how fast this car can acceleration for such a big beast (up to 40mph anyway, officer). but i do miss the roof-down, hear the engine roar of the S2000, especially as the summer's on the way.
Mine came with a year's warranty but needed a new clutch recently that cost
