Default Bozwell's project crx spyder

though i may as well start a project log for this conversion as well

iv'e got a mk1 crx 1.5 12 valve which is in need of a bit of work and i fancy the idea of making it into a convertable

yes this will be done at the same time as the S800

anyway , there was a company in america called Straman that did this conversion back in the 80's . so it's not a new idea but what it does mean is that there are cars out there than i can copy as well as do some of my own mods

it will be a joint effort between me and the apprenticce panel beater so we will share it when it's on the road

i recently picked up a Honda Ballade to use as a beater as it was being given away free . it looked good but the floor is too rot to bother to weld up but what this does mean is that i now have loads of running gear spares, as well as a power steering system that will fit straight in

the car will be a lot heavier anyway due to all the strength that will need to be put in

a few picture of my car and some pictures i have from a fellow crx owner who has a Straman in america (so i must thank Wolfcrx for letting me have loads of pictures of his rex and post them)

Straman

the power steering will go straight in and also the engine and suspension is low milage , full honda history ,old lady driven and feels very solid

the idea is to tune the engine as well to overcome the extra weight. also the owner of the Straman pictured has a standard crx as well and reports that the Straman feels more ridged than the one with a roof

updates will follow very slowly as it will be a slow process

The finished article from the US does look very good.

Normally soft tops derived from a coupe look rubbish, but that does look pretty dinky!

Best of luck with it!!

I can fully apprecfiate the work being put in here but the pic of the US based one looks like a baby Golf GTi from the 80s and therefore inherently a skipper's car.

Sorry but it does.

Engineering wise - good on ya chap.

Have to agree - I think that it looks better with the roof on.

Still, sounds like fun & a good learning exercise.

Great-looking little car; I'd forgotten about the digital dash versions!

It still amazes me that Honda has such gaps in its range today.

it's a 1984 crx so that will fit in perfect
