I was there in '93!!!

It is a memory I will always treasure and NEVER forget - the GREATEST first lap of any Grand Prix in history - Ayrton Senna's amazing lap of passing 5 cars to lead by the end of the first lap in treacherous conditions

The track seems comparatively narrow by modern F1 track standards though?! I assume they'll need to increase the run off areas substantially too....
Well it's not as if they ever need to get alongside each other is it?

Great news for Donington no doubt but from a very selfish point of view, I wonder what effect it will have on track day and club racing prices?

The BBC do say the circuit will have to be extended. I'm not sure how, or in which direction, but for one thing the pits are probably a bit small for F1, and the pit exit is right into the racing line for Redgate. I wonder if they'll build a whole new pit lane, perhaps on the inside?

I guess it's possible they'll shut the whole venue for a year whilst they rebuild it.

Silverstone has an almost pupose built dual carrigway linking it to the M40 and M1. What's it going to be like at Donington? Even if they were to get the go ahead for new roads, it's not going to be ready by 2010.
It's only 2.5 miles from M1 to the circuit, so provided they can get that dualled (which should be a problem as there's only fields) they'll be ok I guess.

I guess much depends on how much of the surrounding land they own.

Still can't see that happening in 2 years.

It should make F1 a bit more interesting, when BMI flight 4321 dumps its load on takeoff
