Personally, I think this is a good move. Donnington is superb and is like a mini Nurburgring in terms of undulations, camber etc.
Also really good viewing areas for the F1 fan!!
However the infrastructure, services and parking will have to be improved. Obviously 2 years is ok, but I am sure we all remember the fiasco that surrounded Silverstone during the late 90's.
A shame for Silverstone in a way, because they have just about sorted out all the infrastructure and now they loose the F1 - should have got their act together a lot earlier then!!

Excellent news!
The last race I saw there was the hastily arranged European GP in 1993 when Senna drove what many people believe to be the greatest ever single GP lap!

Somebody must be pouring a hell of a lot of cash into Donington. Silverstone's facilities aren't great, but it's the best we have for now.
I'm sure this is more about Bernie not liking the BRDC than anything else.

I hope they don't ruin Donington for the sake of F1. I have a feeling they will.
Silverstone has become duller and duller to drive as it's been altered to suit F1, if they do the same with Donington they'll neuter one of the country's top driving circuits.
I really can't see this as a good thing

The BBC do say the circuit will have to be extended. I'm not sure how, or in which direction, but for one thing the pits are probably a bit small for F1, and the pit exit is right into the racing line for Redgate. I wonder if they'll build a whole new pit lane, perhaps on the inside?
I guess it's possible they'll shut the whole venue for a year whilst they rebuild it.
Silverstone has an almost pupose built dual carrigway linking it to the M40 and M1. What's it going to be like at Donington? Even if they were to get the go ahead for new roads, it's not going to be ready by 2010.
