Bye bye EVO magazine
MarkB mentioned Practical Performance Car magazine some time ago and since then I've read with some interest the online build diaries of vairous readers (read here).
I've been an EVO subscriber for a number of years but I've found myself reading the magazine in no time at all because I'm bored of the same flowery prose regarding the drive of the latest supercars in the Italian mountains.
Before I went on holiday (back 3am this morning) I spotted PPC on sale in Tesco. I bought a copy and loved it! Therefore I've cancelled my EVO subscription this morning and subscribed to PPC.
The only problem is that now I want some PPC back issues to read previous tutorials (to restore the Capri Mk1 that I daydream about from time to time!).
Has anyone else turned their backs on EVO?

Funny you should mention that Craig as I've not been overly impressed with the last three copies of EVO.
I'm getting a bit bored of Harry and his bloddy supercars and the increasing number of gadgets, watches and various other paraphanalia that they term 'essentials' which in actual fact is moving the magazine into more of a lifestyle format rather than a car format.
And the w@nkers didn't clearly point out that the Cayman S had a shopping trolley diff!

Rich, the "essentials" section is indeed dross and helped make my decision easier. Buy PPC and then read how to make an LSD using some metal drainage pipe, a bag of rubber bands and something off a knackered Sierra
I binned about 4 years of PPC back issues when I moved in January.
If you'd listened to me sooner Craig, you could have had them
And Ralston - I've been telling you how shite Evo was for years, finally you're coming round to my way of thinking.....
It's stuff like this that makes their forums - inspired f**kwittery.

Evo has been nothing but car p0rn since its inception; lots of glossy pictures of supercars and the latest Evo vs Impreza bull..
I had a subscription to it years ago but quickly discovered it was nothing but the same crap shiny pictures every month; A friend mentioned CCC magazine which by comparison was dripping with oil and had real, obtainable cars with interesting articles; never looked back at Evo since. coffee table mag.

I recently gave up with Car & have subscribled to 'Classic & Sports Car' which is holding my attention much better.
I fully expect to start hankering for a Fair Isle Sweater and flat cap and aquiring a taste for cheese and real ale any time now.
Ah....it must have been dormant.......nothing wrong with cheese and real ale.
