Post Bye Bye S2000 - Hello Audi S3

My S went about a month ago, and I went on a mission to find an Audi RS4 Avant in Nogaro Blue. Eventually I found a minter, but backed out at the last minute after really working out how much it was going to cost(the running costs were not funny!)

So having always fancied an Audi S / RS and needing something practical I went for this. Bought from ebay of all places and from an owner needing urgent cash - I went in real low and got a depreciation beater.

Also have bought the private plate S3 YAY !

Spec as follows:

Audi S3 - 2001 in Ebony Black(I think)

Options:
Bose
Symphony CD and multichanger
Electric Sunroof
Heated Electric Seats
Auto Dip mirror
Centre Armrest

I would describe the car as "capable" Feels very solid, very safe and rapid when needed. Im enjoying the civilzed quiet drive.

Next stop MRC tuning in Oxford for an extra 40bhp and LOTS more torque

Sooner its faster the better - Its quick, but I just not quite quick enough and I reckon this will turn it into a belter!

Ah, I see you have adopted the standard Audi "foglights on at all times" ethos already

I hope you turn the fogs off Andy!

On a lighter note, do you miss the S?

The feeling of having bags of torque is very refreshing, but what do you prefer?

Jees foglight police alert - but dont worry, only on for photographic purposes.

Do I miss the S. Well not really but then I wasnt that attached to it and having had 2, seeing it go really wasnt that hard. Dont get me wrong I do rate it as a car, but its a bit like the Audi - I could find another tomorrow if I had to.

Having the torque is nice, its a much easier and more relaxing car to drive. It isnt as quick as the S, though I reckon after the remap it will be. As for handling, the Audi doesnt feel as sharp - but Im pretty sure given a point to point head off Id get there quicker in the Audi - it really inspires confidence and has shed loads of grip though understeers more ofcourse - it no doubt flatters an average driver also. Havent driven it in the wet yet but more of the above X 2 I should imagine.

So all in all Im pretty happy with my first step into Audi land.

If you're going to Oxford I'd recommend going to AmD in Bicester for a rolling road / remap - I had my S3 done there a few years ago and the difference it made to the car was nothing short of spectacular!
