Yeah, leaving the oil in a turbo engine that long seems like some sort of perversion.

Unless the intervals come down as the bores oval & the blow-by gets worse.

Its £200 less than last quote and that's with addition of brake fluid

last time it cost me £450 with me supplying oil and i had to hold a gun to their head for that price

In fairness the car has had 2 faults in 4 years, one a nicked belt and the battery died, i'm pretty happy tbh as its a very special engine imo

The throttle actuator issue is the elephant in the M3 house but actually is a simple job for a bloke with a lathe and gear cutting capabilities. I am in the opposite of double jeopardy, having a neighbourhood garage with fettling abilities who could do the job and being on the BMW warranty to get a replacement part fitted buckshee.

its no big issue now the community have solved the issue. you are talking a few hundred quid if you get yours refurbed and DIY fit

i did a brief analysis on cutters and the avg failure mileage is c53k so i have 20k grace and i never use the blippy throttle setting which i'm sure dont help

http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?t=125423

overall they seem solid cars. there is the big end rumour with a few internet examples but i think a well cared for motor won't fall to bits

Pistonheads rate the CTR over the RS.

(Apols for the random nature of the comment - I thought it might be semi relevant!)

It could get messy if there were a collision...

it would be nowt new to Carp

anyway, back to cars the M3 is booked in for paint tomorrow and new discs and pads are in the post. The rears were replaced recently and the fronts are showing signs of age so i decided to replace based on ECP's 25% off (£350 for discs and pads with discount)

expensive month then..

paint is c£850
service c£520
discs and pads £350

but then i just need my scuffed wheel refurbed and she should be in very good shape. It's also getting that hard clearcoat on the front end so my stone chips nightmares should come to an end
