Guys on the M3 facebook thing are all positive about him

I'm waiting for mine to go but so far it's ok, on 46k now

Seen his vid on youtube and was not particularly impressed. He's also in Kent so coming to notts unlikely.

Alpina on cutters thinks my issue is electronic so i'll probably remove them and have a look.

various places offer mosfet replacement for c£40 a pop. Gears are £75 to £100.

I would consider replacing your gears or you'll end up in this position. The gears seem to cause the burnout.

Are the cogs knackered, or do they simply need some silicone grease on them?

We have similar issues with door & window actuators, after many years on Hondas.

i've not taken em off yet Nick.. i am struggling with a bad case of cba itis, stuffed it into the garage and kicked it and called it bad words (rog told me off for this)
i've ordered new gears, the (very, very) common prognosis is that the gears wear and become a bit more stiff (or maybe less accurate and judder?), this increases load and the board fails as a result.. a chap with some considerable experience on cutters says my codes point to a fried board/s

Now a lot of people keep driving the car, you can reset it and off you go early on, but i just drove it home and dumped it, so i'm hoping a mosfet replacement and new gears will sort it. failing that used units are c£350, new £700 ish?

so the plan is

mosfet replacement £40 x 2
gears £75 x 2

the latter are in the post..

in the meantime i need to replace the exhaust gasket on the SC S2 and that can share the load of getting me to work. i dont like using the stockish S for the commute.. but bike MOT tomorrow so hopefully i'll also have that available (it is a Honda after all )

My Roomba did that due to dawg hair intrusion into the gearbox - easy rebuild. Maybe its dawg hairs?

Looks like those boards can be repaired.

They're not as old-fashioned as the Climate Control Unit ones in NSXs; when the capacitors leak, they can be re-soldered and burned track bridged with physical wires. Like a Ferguson Telly. I like old electrickery...

this is the guy who's method i think is a touch crude

the way he charges in with a cordless drill to 'pin' the cog gives me.. well.. zero confidence

these guys replace the mosfet trannies

To be fair, confidence in the quality of the original part isn't exactly high given the price / age of the vehicle in the first place
