At £800 a pop and £300 fitting it would be painful to fit shit (but expensive) new parts

i've no idea how these will last but to me those boards are not particularly sevicable.

i had to move the half cogs down the shaft so they are no longer pinned but are a tight fit, whether that will be an issue i dont know but i doubt it. I would have prefered not to though.

all done, she runs fine. I'll take it out tomorrow and post a pic of the AA truck

Sydney 4pm. Just had a Michael Fish sort of day. It rained a lot but no trees down here. Coolangatta might be different though. Bradman Museum at Bowral was very good and no gouging except a bit too much whinging about Bodyline Parked in wide suburban street outside foc. Not seen any S2000s yet and only one BM a 335i but loads of muscle cars Soulcrew would be pissing his trousers

i'm not sure the moving was needed Rog, it just meant the actuator arm would be in a slightly different position as it sits on the other end of that shaft. But equally the half cog sits under a cog which is braced against the casing (and nothing else) so i cant see an issue really

whether my boards are OK i dont know. They looked fine and people claiming to "replace mysterious things" on that board are pushing my faith tbh. The trannies maybe but if it aint broke new would be better and i can see how constant adjustment due to excess play could cause an issue.... theoretically

onwards and all that

this illustrates the point, left is new, both are positioned with cogs level and so the left one is longer

So the new ones are still plastic?

I've seen some where it's alu or brass or something which I thought looked quite good.

the half gear is made of something called Derlin, the reduction gear which causes the issue is brass

anyway.. bad news. I couldnt reproduce an issue so rebuilt, drove around a bit. no probs.

then this morning.. boom. so it IS an electrical failure . In fairness, Alpina, who seems to know his stuff, said it would be this.

the ebay mosfet guy says their success rate is 9/10. £40 a board
I might remove them again tonight... joy of joys.. at least the issue doesnt seem to want to go away now which makes testing easier

I've started replacement shopping as when i drove the car last night and this morning i realised it's just not for me so it will be up for sale once properly fixed

i am leaning toward the 350. Found a repair place so plan B is in full swing.
