The GT86 has piped induction noise, which at least is slightly less silly than removing an air box cover.
Not one for an internet war; you'd have to line the cars up and listen to them live. But OK, here goes:
I'd want the Acura GT5000 alongside the LFA - although it was never produced, so I'm cheating.
Alright; the S2000 as a bystander for the best four-banger.
V10s generally are the work of Satan. But he has the best tunes and the Audi R8 makes a nice noise. As does the BMW, of course.
So does the M-B V12, and that is musically more correct.
But then we must have several Ferraris to provide harmony.
A BMW six is a sine non quod - probably an M-division, bit even Alex von Falkenhausen's tame original sounds lovely.
The C or J series V6s both sound sexy; a bit of a VTEC Kerrang and gurgle that others lack.
I generally dislike US V8s for a lack of musicality in production form. Ferrari (although they can sound as crap as a Honda four unless thrashed) or the BMW yet again.
Any other production engines I've completely overlooked?
Ricey exhausts or inlets not permitted!
Mission Motorsport kindly gave me the keys to this (but no V5 or a way out of the car park). Sadly my expression wasn't captured on film. Didn't sound too shabby...
And it's a real one.

Soul is the wrong word but oft used

They don't still have that "Power, passion; Union City blues" or whatever it was come up when you switch on, do they?

I never bother looking, too busy getting the roof down so I can hear it start up in full surround sound

Never been one for brands which is ironic considering my garage contents
I'd far rather buy well engineering "quirky" cars (Saab Hirsch Troll R
Volvo V40T4, Legacy Spec B)It frustrating "the sheep" can't see past the marketing crap, but then it does fund "special" cars and makes them rarer
