BMW's aren't even on my radar, will never happen after my Z4. That 911 and esprit both make me drool in equal measure. I did a bit of TVR shopping with a mate a few months ago, there is something really special about them. (when it's a good one) I have 9 days off from the 12th of june, thats when the test drives and serious shopping will begin.

I know this may sound like a ridiculous other option, but what are the opinions on DB7's?
You mention reasonable running costs for a low-use car - this would rule an AM out if a friend's experience is typical...

Masers cost a fortune to run and TVR's cost a fortune and break down a lot

997 S Carrera or 996 Turbo I would go for if I had 35,000 quid laying about.

Polemicist, i hadn't even considered that, never thought i could afford that type of thing so didn't even look. Might fit in to the too flashy category though!

Go for an understated colour - Tour de France Blue or Black. These colour F-cars can be had at significantly lower prices than Retail-Red too.

From my limited experience in the F-car world, the older models are revered by most people and not reviled.
