Default Car suggestions

My girlfriend's well used Volvo V70 has gone to the scrap yard in the sky. We're looking for something for her with a budget of around £5k.

She likes the idea of a 4x4 but I can't see anything with a big enough boot space (except something like a Mitsi i200, which she hates haha).

It needs to have the following criteria:

Large boot (for 5 dogs, one massive mastif, one lab and 3 greyhounds)
Ability to tow (horsebox)
Manual
Reliable!

It's hard to find anything, I like the Accord estate and might look at a few to get an idea...

Your opinions and suggestions as always, very welcome

Mazda 6 or dare I say a ford mundane. 4x4 wise rav4 or crv diesels. Plenty of all those about but if towing a horsebox does that mean muddy fields?

Our 2.5 XTEn Forester is superb, goes like a rocket, drives like a car, but a bit thirsty!
Get a pre March 06 2.5XT, £200k/yr cheaper tax and Impreza WRX engine/running gear
Legacy might be a good shout as they are super reliable and cheap as chips (Outbacks are a jacked up legacy again with a lot of impreza parts, they are ALL autos though)

I wouldn't touch a JLR product after 7 years of seeing them built

Hope that helps Ian!

Deceptively big, fold the back seats down and it is enormous, also has the benefit of being taller space than an estate
