Default Caught drinking and driving!

No, not alcohol.

I was just out for a quick spin today when a happened across a mobile speed detector van. I was in a 30 zone and obeying the speed limit albeit occasionally inching up to 31.

The only issue was that I didn't see it until I rounded a corner and was right on top of it, and I'd chosen that precise moment to take a swig out of a sports bottle of Lucozade.

Do these cameras only function with speeding motorists or could whoever was manning it taken a cheeky snap of me flouting the laws of driving?

I was going to say that

I would have thought if you weren't speeding no pic would be taken.

I remember some guy who was done for giving a V sign to a speed camera, they photgraphed him and prosecuted.
Would have thought if you where doing 30-31mph, you would not have attracted their attention.

I remember reading about that. He was doing it with both hands and got done for dangerous driving because he wasn't in full control of the car. Muppet!

I posted on another thread that I was wondering what you were going to do next and when I saw the title of this thread my heart was in my mouth. Thank Goodness you haven't been caught over the limit, but I think a girl was done for eating an apple, let's hope that the equipment wasn't sophisticated enough to snap you swigging your Lucozade.

They can take a picture .... but are after speeders - I doubt they even noticed or would have been interested anyway.

Taking a swig from a can of coke, etc wouldn't normally be a problem .... but take a verbal warning anyway for touching 31mph

No, I'm not that daft. Thanks for your concern though.

I know a while back someone was done for taking a swig of water whilst stationary at traffic lights. I suppose it depends on the copper that catches you. Some can be right bar stewards.

You can get done for driving whilst not in proper control or careless driving ..... both need quite a bit more than just drinking something; i.e. veering between lanes, drifting off line, inconvenience to other road users, etc. You'd have to be doing something pretty bad to actually get pulled for it !

Drinking water whilst stationary is not an offence - I feel there is some more to that one .....
