I’d have to drive them both to compare. With the difference of a little over 10 grand and 70 more horses. I would really need to be compelled that the 911 turbo is that much better.
I’ve had a thing for 911s for a long time. I’ve been to their museum in Stuttgart. I love the endless pursuit to perfect something that didn’t start out all that great, into a racing icon and performance legend.
I got a chance to track an F430 Scud and it was sublime! That was almost 15 years ago when I had a $6k Honda 600RR and a $1500 Ram 1500.
I plan on selling my soul to make as much money as I can these next 10 years. In the meantime I’ll keep my eyes on the market and see if an opportunity arises to get my hands on either of my dream cars.
Can't get out of my head a word your phrase that I have highlighted evokes. Holocaust.
But to say I agree with your observations and envy you tracking an F430 scud

woah, that’s a bit dark. Especially for a German make. Not where I was getting my inspiration. Now Kiazen is something of a theme or mantra I like to use, The Japanese were the other major axis power. Both Germany and Japan lead in the Industrial Revolution following the war.
bit odd that that was the thought I provoked. However, I am pleased to know that sometimes my words provoke thought.
back to das auto
i hadn’t built a Porsche since the Caymen debuted but I got on the website last night and built a couple versions of my long time dream car.
I’ve had an affinity for black and tan cars since the rx7 FD was offered in that combination. Now if this was a Red Head (testa rosa) it’d be red and tan. The 911 turbo didn’t have an option for a proper gearbox but the 8 spd twin clutch flappy paddle in these should be pretty solid. I think the worst flappy paddle box I drove was in a baby lambo Gallardo. That was in 2012 with a back to back comparison of the F430, which was sublime!! Another bonus (for me anyway) is the 911 offers a back seat. Not that an adult could sit back there but I could pack a couple small people back there if needed. Pretty
Breakdown of the build spec on the 911 turbo
Base plus options put it just over $210k. I built a similarly spec’d GT3 Touring, I’ll share that too.
Changed up the color with this dark blue. I think it looks even better than the metallic black. Black paint can be a pain to keep up. Not a bad looking rear end. I lived in Germany for a while and a lot of the cars are debadged which I kind of like. Proper 6 speed, although linked to the transaxle. I think prefer the direct “stick in box” like the S. I’d imagine this is still pretty good though. Slightly sportier all around with the seats, gearbox and small details like the chrono timer. But I have to say, I kind of like it. Racey without being racist. Now you’ll notice on this build I started with a savings of 10 grand but in order to get the tan leather that I want Porsche tacked on 20 grand and got me to about the same price as the 911 turbo.
so at the end of the day (which is the beginning of my day here in Florida) I’m left with 2 stunning 911s. Again, I’d have to drive them both but I am digging the gt3 Touring. I feel like you get the best of both worlds, and if you wanted, you could tune that 70bhp right back into the GT3.

Like that dark blue against the red callipers
I had a mate Jimmy ex marine had a metallic blue 911 when I worked in silicon valley early '70s.
It was being 'done up' so the interior was non existent at the time. He welded in some hand grips for passengers to hang on to. Yipes!
Apologies for my dark word association though I think we here in Europe - and the US funding/supporting - are still living through the aftermath. Gaza and the Ukraine wars to name but two
Buddy of mine software millionaire had a 4-berth double-decked garage. Fezza side 348 and F40. Porsche side GT3 and soft-top Turbo 911.
Lost touch early 00's so the good Lord only knows what's in there now.
