Default Chavs and their primitive urges

Why is it that whenever a muppet has passed me in the opposite direction, or drives past me if I'm stationary that he feels compelled to rev the nuts off his POS as he goes by? I can see these folk coming quite often and don't hear a sound, but when they see me in either the S2K or the Elise they have to make a twat of themselves and rev their engine? Knobs with turbo'd cars are bad for it. Cruise up in traffic, then they see me with the roof off and give me a whoosh of their pathetic dump valve like I'm going to give them a round of applause.

Today I saw a red MkIV Golf stop outside the shop I was in. He drove up the street with no sound, but when he sees the Elise it's "broom broom broom" as he reverses in and turns the engine off. I've seen this guy before and he fits in perfectly to the catagory above.

I think it's either:
  • They think they it will impress me
  • They think this will prove to me that their car is better
  • It is some sort of caveman "don't mess with me" type thing where a primitive man may growl or grimace or hit another man with a club
I actually think it's the latter. They feel threatened by a proper sports car that looks nice and goes well from day one with no mods, and feel that they have to assert their manhood by making a growly noise with their car and thus look hard.

Anyone else noticed this?

Not really, but I've come to the conclusion that you need to move to a nicer part of the country...

It's actually very nice where I live, but at the moment, the chavs are attracted to the beach like flies to sh*t at this time of year. Their boom boom music tends to p*ss off a lot of people down with their family for a quiet day in the sun.

Possibly, but I've started watching out for it and I'm noticing it more and more.

On my travels I do travel through quite a lot of the country which is chav infesteded and yes I have heard of instances of the above. But they do this all the time and not when they see a proper car. They do it:

1 Whilst waiting at traffic lights
2 When parking
3 When they see a good looking (to them!!) chavette walking past
4 When they see other chavs
5 At the petrol station

Really gets to me this as you mentioned caveman like behaviour!!!
